Maple Leafs Place Jhonas Enroth on Waivers

Jhonas Enroth has seen his time playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs expire today as the club placed him on waivers.

Enroth was added to the Maple Leafs roster as a free agent this past summer in hopes that he could serve as a respectable backup to Frederik Andersen. Unfortunately, a string of poor performances has put an end to that test.

The new Maple Leafs backup goaltender is still unknown at this point, however, all signs point to former Calgary Flames netminder Karri Ramo taking the position. Ramo has been practicing with the Maple Leafs as of late, and the team even went as far as giving him his own stall and nameplate, despite no contract being in place.

Ramo is still rehabilitating an injury suffered during the 2015-16 campaign with the Flames. He has yet to receive medical clearance, but once he does, you can only assume he will sign a contract with the Leafs.

Until that time, Toronto may have to recall Antione Bibeau or Garret Sparks to serve as a backup.
