Bauer Goal Mask and Cage Recall

News has been out there for just over two months now, but many goalies are still unaware of the Bauer goal mask and cage recall.

The recall was issued by Bauer Hockey along with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC), Hockey Canada, and Health Canada. It affects 3 different goal masks, and their titanium cages.

• Bauer NME 10 goal mask with certified titanium oval wire
• Bauer RP NME Ti titanium cage

The recall was issued after it came to light that the titanium cages can break and cause facial injuries. At the time the recall was issued, there had been 9 cases reported of cages breaking and 4 reports of lacerations caused by the breakage.

In total, there were close to 1,200 units sold in the United States, and 1,300 in Canada.

“Consumers should immediately stop using goalie masks and replacement wires and contact Bauer Hockey for a free replacement wire cage and complimentary throat protector,” the US CPSC says.
