Vintage Goalie – Swag for Netminders

As a young lad in Southern Ontario, Matt Eggink, the founder of Vintage Goalie, was mesmerized by the goaltender. Looking at the masked warrior in the crease, he knew early on that the goaltender was the best position in sports.

It was the love of goaltending that got him started in hockey, and eventually in to collecting as well. His passion for the game eventually turned to an opportunity to work as a product developer on goalie equipment for Mission-Itech Hockey, and then later with Bauer.

In 2014, however, is when Vintage Goalie started to get off the ground. This upcoming apparel brand designed specifically for goalies started out as a few sketches hoping to pay tribute to all goalies. As the winged mask logo was born, so too was the Vintage Goalie brand.

What began as a logo and shirt design for goalie friends quickly turned into a collection of apparel. The community started to grow and the brand began to take off. People who had purchase Vintage Goalie swag were in love and praising the brand.

“It’s important to me that we offer something unique to goalies, something they’re proud to wear, both young and seasoned,” Eggink said. “In addition, we include one free vintage goalie hockey card with every order. I just think it’s a fun thing to do and people love it.”

“Our motto is simple, we ‘pay tribute to the net minders of yesterday and we celebrate those who follow them.’

“The game of hockey is so rich in history, so let’s remember how we got here.”
